Indie distributor Hat Trick International has inked its first-ever format deal to adapt Whose Line Is It Anyway? for the Middle East.
Commissioned by TeN TV from Egypt-based Global Productions, the local adaptation will consist of 14 episodes and is slated to bow in December this year to audiences across the Middle East.
The deal adds to the other 13 international adaptations for the unscripted comedy show including Australia (Foxtel); Finland (MTV3); the Netherlands (BNN-Vara); and Vietnam (Dong Tay Promotion).
Whose Line is it Anyway? features four guest performers who improvise their way through a series of games, some of which rely on audience suggestions, to garner points awarded by the host with the goal of winning the opportunity to read out the closing credits in a style chosen by the host.
Hat Trick Productions’ original Whose Line is it Anyway? aired for a decade on UK pubcaster Channel 4 and ABC in the U.S. from 1988 to 1998. Rebooted in 2013, a new U.S. version, produced by Angst Productions and Hat Trick Productions, is now in its seventh season on the CW.
